Some customers bemoan quality of GT&T Internet and mobile services

LEADING telecommunications network in Guyana, Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T) has been causing a number of “valued customers” to bemoan their allegedly “poor and inconsistent services.”

This newspaper has met several dissatisfied customers who have voiced their various concerns over paying for services which they claim to be of poor quality.
Through reports on social media, particularly by students, it has apparently become a norm for web pages not to be available due to the Internet service being unreliable. As a result, people are forced at times to wait hours in order to regain access.
Such actions provoke the admonition of customers who declare that “we are paying for services and not even getting to use it.”
One customer who chose to remain anonymous noted that the company’s failure to provide efficient services must be seen against their prompt disconnection of Internet services soon after payment becomes due. “They are depriving us from getting our monies worth but they are prompt in their delivery for disconnection… this is inconsiderate and will continue to be seen as an act of dishonesty by customers who remain loyal to them,” she said.
Reports of Internet services on mobile phones too continue to pose a problem as there are a few reports of persons paying for Internet on their mobile but being denied access although charges were deducted.
However, efforts to secure a comment from GT&T CEO, Radha Krishna Sharma proved futile.
