Guyana Senior Women cricketers depart for Dominica : … GCB president urges players to give their best

GUYANA senior female team departed yesterday for Dominica where they will compete in the 2014 Regional Super50 Tournament from August 5 to 14, 2014. 

The teams that will be fighting for the title are Grenada, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, Jamaica, St Vincent, St Lucia, and Trinidad & Tobago.
Seeing the players off, president of the Guyana Cricket Board, Drubahadur, urged them to give their best and make Guyana proud. He further called on the senior Guyana players with West Indies experience (Tremayne Campbelle, Tremayne Smartt, Subrina Munroe and June Ogle) to lead by example and help guide the younger players. The president also welcomed newcomer Lashuna Toussaint and wished her the best for her first outing with the senior team.
The Guyanese women will be looking for their first Regional title. Coach Andre Percival believes that these ladies are capable of accomplishing the task with their rich blend of experience and new talent. The furthest Guyana reached in the Regional Super50 was the semifinal in 2012 when Barbados hosted the tournament.
Guyana will battle Jamaica in Round One on August 7, St Vincent in Round Two on August 8, and St Lucia in Round Three on August 10. The semifinals are set for August 12, while the Final will be on August 13.
The Guyana team reads June Ogle (captain), Tremayne Smartt (vice-captain), Latoya Smith, Melanie Henry, Shemaine Campbelle, Kavita Yadram, Lashuna Toussaint (wicketkeeper), Plaffiana Millington, Akaze Thompson, Hasena Mohamed, Subrina Munroe, Katana Mentore, Heema Singh, Erva Giddings. The coach is Andre Percival and the manager is Carol Nurse.
